Ventia is hard at work playing our part in transforming Barangaroo, the disused container terminal and former Millers Point Gasworks on the edge of Sydney's CBD, into a spectacular 22-hectare waterfront community.
Tasked with the excavation and remediation of around 400,000T of contaminated fill and rock, our team is hard to miss with their vast Odour Control Enclosures (OCEs) now erected on site, pictured above. The OCEs are required to ensure that the works do not impact the local environment and community.
Decommissioned in 1921, the gasworks site retains by-products of those gasworks including tanks containing coal tar, and large volumes of contaminated soil.
When complete in 2024, Barangaroo will accommodate more than 23,000 workers and residents, and host thousands of visitors each day.
