Over the past 12 months, our VBA team has been busy carrying out essential maintenance projects across Sydney's Darling Harbour precinct, under the Stewardship Maintenance Contract.
VBA completed rehabilitation on Western Distributor bridges around Darling Harbour and Ultimo to prevent and minimise damage to the bridges from the weather and general wear and tear. This work carried out also resulted in reduced maintenance costs and improved structural integrity and life of the bridges.
As the project engineer across this work, Hasith Samarasinghe said, "It has been a great opportunity for me to gain valuable experience across some exciting projects, with the added complexity of COVID.
Some key highlights include painting more than 8,500 m2 of bridge steel and rehabilitating four bearings on two viaduct bridges on the Western Distributor.
