The Whole of Australian Government team at the awards.

It’s no exaggeration to say that Ventia dominated at the 2024 Facilities Management Australia Awards in Melbourne.

Individuals and initiatives from our Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) contract, were finalists in four categories and we were thrilled to take out the top prize in two of those categories as well as a People’s Choice award.

We were the winner for Leadership in Environment, Social & Governance (ESG), where our approach to emissions planning and reduction for one of our major customers was celebrated.

26-year-old Shannon Lester was also a winner on the night, taking out the Young Facilities Professional of the Year and then a surprise additional award – the People’s Choice Award. Shannon is a Lead Facilities Manager, managing 26 Australian Tax Office (ATO) tenancies. This is an extremely diverse and complex portfolio of properties, and she has developed solutions to reduce reactive work orders and overdue landlord work orders and increased assets projected lifespans through more personalised maintenance programs.

We are also proud of Mitchell Candy and Hannah Johnson as finalists in their categories.

Mitchell Candy was finalist for the Facilities Manager of the Year award. As Facilities Manager on a range of complex properties owned by the Department of Finance he demonstrates efficiency, accuracy, and compliance while also delivering the best money for value solutions for our client. The contract has complex needs and strict security requirements and the skill and pride that he shows in the role has given him continuous praise and respect from colleagues and clients alike.

Hannah Johnson was also a finalist in the Young Facilities Professional of the Year category and she was celebrated taking charge of a previously underperforming portfolio and demonstrating remarkable resilience and innovation, swiftly turning the tide to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction. She has elevated the standard of facilities management in her portfolio.

This recognition comes at the close of a busy year filled with numerous accomplishments and successful outcomes for our clients, that I know Emma, along with her team, as well as Shannon, Mitch, and Hannah, will cherish.
