ASC Pty Ltd, Australia's only established sovereign naval shipbuilding and submarine platform company, has awarded Broadspectrum a two-year contract for blast and paint work on the two Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) that will be built at Osborne Shipyard in Adelaide.
The specialist work includes surface preparation and painting of the internal compartments, hull, superstructure and decks areas.
Ventia's Group Executive, Defence & Social Infrastructure, Derek Osborn, said, "We are extremely pleased to continue our relationship with ASC Pty Ltd and to contribute to Australia's future shipbuilding program.
This award continues our 20-plus year relationship at the Osborne shipyard, where we have a proud history of working on Australia's Naval fleet, including Collins Class submarines and new Air Warfare Destroyers.
The contract will see Broadspectrum provide up to 50 permanent jobs for marine painters, industrial cleaners and trade assistants.
