Over the past several months a passionate group of Ventia employees has been working to showcase our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in New Zealand.
As a result of that work, we're proud to announce Ventia NZ has been accredited with the Rainbow Tick!
We received the "Tick" in recognition of the work being done to ensure everyone at Ventia feels included and so that we're reaping the benefits of a truly diverse workforce.
The Rainbow Tick is a certification mark for organisations that complete a Diversity & Inclusion assessment process. The certification process tests whether a workplace understands and welcomes sexual and gender diversity.
General Manager Local Government Katie James helped lead the work, and says that one of the most vulnerable populations among youth today is the LGBTQ+ community, particularly the young people.
LGBTQ+ inclusion is so important for making sure everyone feels safe and comfortable in bringing their whole selves to work, and it is one of our priorities to set an example and create a welcoming space, particularly for our emerging leaders.
Group Executive People, Safety and Culture Jodie Blake says that Ventia NZ recognises our work to support the Rainbow Community is a continuing journey and we hope to go from strength to strength based on this first, important step.
"While we are excited and beyond thrilled to have achieved the Rainbow Tick this year, we know that our commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ community is an ongoing partnership, and we are excited to see where it takes us next year," Jodie says.
"A huge thank you to everyone at Ventia that has helped us achieve this accreditation, and to our passionate people across the business who are helping make Ventia a great place to work, every day."
