Ventia has been contracted by Transurban to provide Incident Management services for the CityLink Motorway in Melbourne from December this year.
Under the new contract, in place until 2019, Ventia will provide quick clearance solutions and traffic control for road hazards such as breakdowns, crashes and spillages.
Ventia's new incident management vehicle is industry leading and will be used to clear motor vehicle incidents more safely and quickly on the CityLink Motorway.
The vehicle includes an automated cradle system that is attached to the rear of the tow vehicle. The cradle allows vehicles to be self-loaded and towed from the scene with less time spent outside the vehicle for the tow truck operator. The vehicle also enables much faster loading of vehicles.
Peter Handel, General Manager Asset and Infrastructure Services Ventia said, "Ventia will assist in keeping traffic moving more freely on Melbourne's CityLink Motorway by using a new vehicle that will clear breakdowns faster, more safely and in a more cost-effective way."
Ventia currently provides incident management services for Transurban in NSW and Queensland on motorways and tunnels including Brisbane's AirportlinkM7 and Sydney's Eastern Distributor and Cross City Tunnel.
We are very pleased to extend our relationship with Transurban and support them in Victoria for the first time, Mr Handel said.
Already Australia's busiest road network, the number of vehicles, using CityLink Motorway is expected to increase when the widening of the Tullamarine Freeway is complete.
