The Elizabeth Quay development was a Western Australian Government initiative aimed at developing Perth as a contemporary, liveable and globally competitive city, enhancing its appeal for residents, city workers and visitors alike.
Spanning an area of approximately 10 hectares, the project included constructing a new inlet with associated roads, parks, promenades and an island with a connecting bridge.
In 2013, Ventia was awarded the subcontract for the construction of a rock bund and inlet reclamation. Ventia also led the dredging process and worked with an indigenous partner, Ngarda Civil and Mining, on the earthworks and drainage.
To reduce the potential environmental impact from the proposed works and to save our client time on the overall program, Ventia proposed an alternative dredging solution and assisted the client with amending project approvals.
This innovation was nominated for a Banksia 2014 Sustainable Water Management Award, and resulted in savings to the project of approximatley $1 million.
Ventia's positive safety culture also ensured the safe completion of all works packages with no recordable Lost Time Injuries.
